Mon
Today I worked on the diagram if the project place and time schema. Still needs a fair amount of work – and found sketching up on paper mych easier.
Mermaid.js is good, but limites to its set of diagram types, which i found didnt fit my diagram all that well. And then theres the question of styling – the styles are very late 90s UML vibe – the particular blue they use…
So I decided to go directly into inkscape and make an svg diagram in there which worked well. Except for it exploding when I wanted to render out my doc to docx and pdf… so the workflow still needs tweaking.

So I am going to do GBJam 14!
What ever the theme – it will involve potatoes and chaos. At the very least.

figuring out maps – how to describe grid refs and then do

Had more of a look at GBJam previous years. Interesting how many were done on tools other than GB tool kits – with godot getting a big representation.
Also, quite a few solo devs.
All the submissions were very poliahed looking
While its interesting to look at all of the too 10 games, I think I will look at solo developers whos games I liked, and go from there. Which will mean sifting through a fair few submissions, but oh well!

Looks like Muji have an A6 dot grid book that is JUST big enough to do gb screen mockups of 18×20 if done horizontally. Sweet!

On the topic of logos and splash screens – and in relation to GBJam – an idea popped into my head that made me almost laugh out loud:
the head and face of the flying mollusc in slow mo jumps into bottom left of screen, ears flap upwards like wings – then a freeze frame – ears are well in the air, a big jowly smile. a tongue flapping out the side – and the acompanying sounds? sfx then a triumphant call…
For reference, “The flying mollusc” is one of the MANY nicknames of one of our dogs – who loves to jump around. A lot.
